Trauma-informed Bodywork

1. Craniosacral Therapy

Craniosacral therapy is a gentle manual therapy that works with the body's innate ability to heal on multiple structural and physiological systems for greater health and well being. Even if, as the name implies, it involves contacting the different structures around the cranium and the sacrum, it is really a whole body approach.

The pressure used for this modality is very light (the weight of a nickel - 5gr) and it's meant to release restrictions in the craniosacral system, which has been shown to improve the functioning of the central nervous system, as well as many other systems of the body, such as digestive, musculoskeletal, respiratory, circulatory, and more. CST has also been shown to help with the physical components related to such somatic conditions as Post Traumatic Stress, depression and anxiety.

2. Thai Massage

Thai Massage is a modality inspired from the Eastern bodywork. It is practiced generally on the floor and it includes elements such as compression, rocking, stretching, shaking, brushing.

This experience is not only felt on a physical level, but it's meant to awaken your energetic body as well, both practitioner and client entering a shared 'dreamy' state.

Each individual has a different experience, usually according to what the body/ nervous system needs at that particular time.

3. Therapeutic Massage

Based in deep tissue work, the purpose of a therapeutic massage is to work on a specific area that needs to be addressed. It might also include a combination of other modalities like Cranio-Sacral or elements from Thai massage, in order to address the body as a whole.

Ashtanga Yoga

1. Private Ashtanga Yoga class

I'm a strong advocate of individualized teaching, especially in today's fast-paced rhythm and cover-it-all packages. Sometimes, the easy, one-click-away options don't fit and don't work for everyone. Having a guide in your yoga practice can change the way you think, feel and understand what yoga is.

My goal is to have your practice serve you and not the other way. With my background in physical therapy, I will guide you in a compassionate and "ahimsa" (non- violent) way into your yoga practice.

Together, we can establish what is important to you and what you have space for in your practice (that can include, but not be limited to : asana, pranayama, chanting, yoga philosophy).

2. Corporate / Events Group classes

The group classes include a guided sequence of yoga asanas, based on the Primary Series of Ashtanga Yoga. They may also include a short seated practice and / or pranayama (breathing techniques).

Injury Prevention in Yoga

Since I started my journey in the Ashtanga yoga world, I have met TOO MANY people getting injured while practicing, being forced to ultimately give up their practice because they didn't feel safe to continue on this path.

I have dedicated many years trying to understand the mechanisms of pain and injury during yoga practice and my background in physical therapy, along with my passion for anatomy and proper alignment, have served me and other yoga practitioners in avoiding getting injured. I also was fortunate enough to find and learn from teachers who were as passionate about the importance of postural alignment in the Ashtanga yoga system.

If you've experienced pain while practicing, suffered from an injury and don't know how or where to start getting back on your mat, I would love to help guide and reassure you in this process, so you can feel like you have control over your body while practicing yoga asana.

*This is not a medical consultation, nor a physical therapy session. We will analyze together how and when discomfort appears in your practice (or even daily activities) and we will explore different options that might alleviate the discomfort.
